I’m a fan of Little Prince like planets. Or maybe more relevant to today, the Mario galaxy planets. And I really LOVE this Mika video, which is probably where a good chunk of the inspiration comes from. Although the Mika video is way cooler and full of fun stuff:

I also happened to have some green screen footage of me dancing around awkwardly from work so it seemed like a good time to use it for something. And that dinosaur thing at the end was an old character I did at work that got rejected but I’ve always wanted to stick him in something anyways.

I’ve always wanted to use this song for something too. The music is Micro Disneycal World Tour by Cornelius. I just realized this song is off of their album Fantasma. How perfect!

I decided it would be fun to build a small set because I’ve never done it before. I’ve always dreamed about building one so I thought now would be a pretty good time to indulge my idle fantasy of creating a hilly seuss like world. I also loved the idea of making some wooly letters. The whole thing took about a month off an on to build. Angelo helped out a lot, mainly with all the mini carpentry. This is a great word. But when would it ever really be useful? The only thing I could think of was a killer Scrabble game. And you’d have to be a total nerd to whip this insanely high scoring word out. Makes sense that Book is the smart one. Toaster is the angry one. Tissue is the emo one. Plant is the ditz. Vicissitude

I recently bought Hand Job: A Catalog of Type and got really into drawing letters by hand. So I thought it would be fun to draw the same word over and over again. My right hand did not agree.

Each phase of the mutating letters were lovingly hand drawn over a hundred times. (I now know how to spell vicissitude very well). Then they were scanned in and put on top of the sticky notes in AE because I thought it would be faster. Probably would have been easier to just draw them directly onto a shit load of post it notes and shot it practically. Music by the constantly mutable Girl Talk

I thought it would be fun to see some letters beating the crap out of other letters. So here’s King Louis XVI getting his ass whuped by the lower case French peasants. Fun fact: the background is a wrinkly wet paper towel from the DK bathroom (not used, of course). The music is by the fine folks at Circus Contraption who always put on a good show.
